I've had these speakers for a while now. The google home max started to reset itself back to factory, no pattern, then I have to set it up again. and agin....what is happening with these speakers?

If I left it disconnected from power, it keeps configuration, no issues at all.

some of my home mini also do the same,,,,

Any thing I can do or it is time to throw them away and buy apple?

Hi djuancho,

Thanks for posting in the community. I understand this must be frustrating, as you constantly have to set up your Google Home Max and some Google Home Mini speakers again after they perform an unprompted factory reset. I appreciate all the efforts you've made to resolve this issue. I'm here to help!

To better assist you with accurate information, I’d like to confirm the following:

  • When did this issue first start happening?
  • How many Google Home Mini speakers do you have in total, and how many are encountering the issue?
  • Have you noticed any recent power outages in your home?
  • Have you tried plugging the affected devices into different outlets?
  • Have you checked the Google Home app to see if the speakers' firmware was up to date before a reset occurred?
  • Have you received any notification from the Google Home app?

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Melany

  • When did this issue first start happening?### Around 1 year ago
  • How many Google Home Mini speakers do you have in total, and how many are encountering the issue? 1 home Max with issues and 4 minis 1 with problem
  • Have you noticed any recent power outages in your home? Nothing to do with power outages
  • Have you tried plugging the affected devices into different outlets? Ummmm odd question
  • Have you checked the Google Home app to see if the speakers' firmware was up to date before a reset occurred? Home app is the most unfriendly piece pf software I've seen amongst all the big ones, don't even know wherw to find those options..
  • Have you received any notification from the Google Home app? No

Keep me posted.

Hi djuancho,

Thank you for the follow-up information.

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

  • Check the firmware version: Please confirm the current firmware version on your speakers and display. You can refer to this article: Google speaker and display firmware versions.
  • Check your Home Activity: Could you please provide a screenshot of your Home Activity history? This will help me see if there is a recorded instance of the device unlinking. To find this:
    • Open the Google Home app.
    • Go to Settings.
    • Select Privacy.
    • Tap on Home Activity.
  • Verify your connection: Ensure your Wi-Fi signal is strong and that your router is functioning properly.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Melany

Hi,

No activities before, or after one of the reset events as shown on the picture (Dec 5th went back to factory and yesterday, the 21st I set it up again). Also I'm attaching a pic of the wifi signal which is good.
