Google home asks for a pin when I turn on the lights

Hi!

Since a few months, if I try to turn on or off the lamps in 1 of my rooms, Google will ask for a pin. It still performs the tasks, but asking for a pin is annoying and it ignores me for a few minutes for other tasks. How do I stop Google from asking a pin to turn on these lights?

Hello mmandy020,

Thanks for visiting the Community.

I know how challenging it is when you're having issues controlling your light using your Google Home device. A few questions: are you able to control your lamps using the native app? What is the make and model of your light? Does the same issue happen when you control the lights using the Google Assistant app on your phone?

Please unlink and re-link your smart light account from the Google Home app. This will help us refresh the connection between your devices. Follow the steps below to know-how:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google.
  2. Tap Favorites or Devices.
  3. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings > Remove device > Remove.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Muddi
