My Google home cannot answer a question with saying I don't know. When asked ' say yes' I get I don't know

Thank you for posting in the community! I understand you're seeing some unexpected behavior from your Google Home device, which repeatedly says "I don't know," even for simple commands like "say yes," and I'm ready to assist in getting it back on track.

To help me understand the situation better and pinpoint the exact cause, please provide the following information:

  • Which specific Google Home device model is this? (e.g., Google Home Mini, Nest Hub, original Google Home, etc.) If you wish, you can check the help article How to tell which Nest thermostat you have.

  • Has this phenomenon just started happening, or has it been ongoing for a while?

  • Have you made any recent changes to your Google Home settings, Wi-Fi network, or Google Account (like a password change or new security settings)?

  • Are other Google Assistant devices in your home (if you have them) experiencing the same issue?

In the meantime, please confirm that your Nest device firmware is up to date and restart it.

  • Unplug your Google Home device from its power source.

  • Wait for at least 1 minute.

  • Plug it back in.

  • Wait for it to fully restart and try asking "Say yes" again.
