Google home mini error -83902 - unable to link to my home app

Hi all!
I just moved house and am trying to link my google home mini (1st gen) to a new home I’ve created under my google account (it was previously linked to a different home under someone else). I’ve factory reset the home mini and am able to find the device on my home app and connect it to wifi, however when I try to set up Google Assistant I receive the following error message “The operation couldn't be completed. (kGSKError Domain error -83902.)”

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

I was having the same issue too connecting a Harmon speaker in Google Home.  I found other conversations with this error that said to change the language of your device (iPhone) which has worked for me.  In Settings I changed from English UK to English AU (even though I'm in NZ), uninstalled the Google Home app, reinstalled and got it to recognise the device, and managed to get past the error to set up successfully.  Good luck!  Conversations go back three years with this error message and still Google haven't fixed it!

Hi folks,

Thanks for the help here, Jin4.

Rietayy, thanks for reaching out. Have you tried the steps provided by Jin4? Are you using Android or iOS? Could you check if both your phone’s language and the Google Assistant language are both in English? Also, make sure that the address in your Google Home app is updated and that you are not using a work email.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Juni
