Google home mini set up

Brewman66
Community Member

I have a brand new out of box mini Gen I

i use the home app to set it up as I have my other mini, currently working without issue.

i was able to add the device on my first attempt. After adding a software update was needed. After the update the mini froze . I rebooted the app and have since not been able to add / connect to my mini

i have tried to reset the mini via bottom button . I have tried the factory power reset both multiple times without success to connect.

when plugging in the unit doesn’t make the typical pining or any noise. The mic switch doesn’t activate the prompt.

  • can anyone offer advise to get this corrected or am I out of luck?

@Brewman66

I've seen several posts in this forum and elsewhere reporting that a recent Google Nest firmware update has crippled certain older Nest Minis, and because they're now crippled, it seems they can't provide a firmware fix to correct the problem because there's no way to install a firmware update.

It hasn't affected our somewhat newer Nest Mini.

I don't know what Google Nest is going to do about it.

You could try contacting Support, using the link and instructions in the post below, to see whether they'll replace yours since it's new:

Thanks for Mpls for providing the link, it would have been difficult to find/ obtain on my own. It was pivital in getting supports with the instructions you provided.
