Google home mini

My device is constantly disconnecting from Wi-Fi

Everything else in the house works but the mini will be working on minute and then not working the next. Then it works again. It's very annoying. I have done factory reset and uninstalled the app a few times but has not corrected the problem. It has probably been doing it for over a year but it's more frequent now. Maybe 20x a day now.

Is it something that I have to replace because it is no longer good?

Hi Wldrose23,

Thank you for reaching out to our community! It's completely understandable how frustrating it must be to have your Google Home Mini constantly dropping Wi-Fi for over a year, especially when all your other devices are working perfectly. I can imagine how annoying it is that this is now happening even more frequently. I appreciate the steps you've already taken. I’m here to help!

To better investigate this situation, I’d like to ask for the following information:

  • Did the device give an audible error when it disconnected?
  • How did you first notice the connectivity problem?
  • To confirm, does the device automatically reconnect after disconnecting, or do you have to take steps to get it back online?
  • Has the Google Home Mini ever successfully maintained a stable connection to this network before?
  • Have you made any changes to your Wi-Fi setup?
  • Where is the speaker located in proximity to your Wi-Fi router or access points?
  • Are there other Google Home Speakers in the home? If so, are they experiencing the same behavior?
  • What is the firmware version of your Google Home Mini? Here’s a helpful article about how to find the firmware version of your device.

In the meantime, you can check a few things:

  • Ensure your mobile device and the Google Home app are up-to-date.
  • Reboot your router by unplugging it for 2 minutes, then plugging it back in. Also, update your router's firmware if necessary.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
