Hi I have a standard google home and am in the uk. It doesn’t have a display it’s just the speaker type. It connects to music and internet and is working fine other than I can’t get it to make telephone calls. Please can anyone advise how to do this ?

In the UK, the only way to do this is using Google Duo. Follow these steps:
