Google nest mini not playing songs from Apple Music when set to “only allow non-explicit music”

Hi guys. We’ve been playing music through our best mini via my Apple Music account for weeks and I have just toggled on “only allow non-explicit music so my kids can listen. Since doing so, Google Nest Mini says the following when I ask for a song: “Choosing songs is only available with YouTube music premium but you might like this station”. YouTube isn’t my default music provider, Apple Music is and always has been. When I turn the restriction back off, it allows me to play songs from Apple Music again. I have also adjusted my phone content settings to only allow clean music. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Hi Brookie294,

This is not the experience we want you to have, let me help you. A few questions: when did your issue begin? Is the issue only happening when filter/restriction is enabled on your Apple Music app?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Also, you can check this helpful guide for more information about filters and restricted contents.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Dan
