Google nest not completing set up

I have two google nest devices in my home. Both of them stopped working. When I restarted them and attempted to add them as new devices it wouldn't finish configuring. On the nest it says that to I need to finish set up on my device. I pressed the blue button and it went to a white screen.

I have tried rebooting, resetting and unplugging the device. It is either stuck on white screen or the 4 rotating dots.

Hi Jess533,

Thanks for posting—let's get this sorted out. Are you using a dual-band router? Try connecting your Google Nest Hub devices on the other band. If the issue persists, try these steps:

  • Set up your Google Nest Hub devices using a mobile hotspot. You need to have two setup devices.
    • The first phone will behave as the router. Turn on its data and hotspot.
    • The second device is the setup device. Connect it to the hotspot connection.
  • Factory reset your Google Nest Hub once more.
  • Using the second setup device, open the Google Home app > Follow the set-up instructions > Choose the Hotspot network on the “Connect to WiFi” page.

If Google Nest Hub connects and finishes the setup using the Hotspot, the issue is likely with the connectivity to your Wi-Fi. To further isolate it, continue to the next steps:

  • While the phone is connected to the Hotspot, open the Google Home app > Devices > Tap on Google Nest Hub > Settings > Device information > WiFi > Forget WiFi.
  • Connect the setup phone to your home Wi-Fi > Do the setup steps again and try connecting to your home Wi-Fi.

Keep me posted.

Regards,
Alex
