Hand gestures have stopped working on Nest Hub Max

I have been using the "stop"  hand gesture to stop media playback on my Nest Hub max for quite a while, but in the last few weeks it has stopped working. I have not made any changes to the config.

Any ideas for how I can diagnose/fix this?

....I've also just noticed that it no longer recognises my face (it used to).

We don't use those features, but you could try a simple reboot of your Nest Hub Max to see if that resolves the issue, either by unplugging your Nest Hub Max for a minute or so, or by going to your Nest Hub Max in the Google Home app and going to Settings | More [...] | Reboot.
