Hi:
I am new to this forum, my first posting..... Hopefully, this is being posted in the correct forum section.
I do not know the version of the Hey Google speaker, (1st or 2nd gen?). The box says "Home, voice-activated speaker by Google".
I do not know how it was originally setup nor what software is now required to resolve this issue.
Yesterday our Verizon FiOS router was swapped out for an update. The GOOGLE speaker announces that it is unable to connect to WiFi.
I have access to desktop Win10 PC and a very old Chromebook.
How do I manage to reconnect the GOOGLE speaker to WiFi? I do have the name and password for the new FiOS router. I presume that it needs to be configured with the new router name and password?
TNX for any help.

Hi VinB1,
Thanks for reaching out.
If your speaker or display is connected to an existing Wi-Fi network, but you'd like to connect it to a new one, follow the steps below:
If you get an error message that says "could not communicate with your [device]" when you try to forget your network, or the steps above don't work, you'll need to factory reset your device and set it up again.
Let us know how it goes.
Best,
Princess

Both, my Andrfoid cellphone and my iPad Air are not able to run the Google Home App software due to their outdated and non-updating OSs.
I am still searching for a workaround ....

Hey VinB1,
Thanks for letting us know. Let us know once you had the chance to use a supported device where you can install the Google Home app.

I was on telephone with Verizon Tech support but they were not able to help me out of this situation.

I will attempt to have a family member use their Google App, from their own house, to re-configure to the new network name and new router password. The Verizon tech support informed me that this would be possible if I give my family member my google id and password. Do you agree that it will be possible?
I woiuld like to know what info is required as input to the Google Home App? Will my family member be able to remotely change the router credentials?

Hi VinB1,
Reconfiguring your Google speaker remotely is impossible. You need to connect the phone to the network where you want to connect your speaker. You'll just need to set up your device using the Google Home app one time. Once it's set up, you can already use it however, the Google Home app is needed if you need to add or change settings on your device.
Thanks,
Alex

Hi:
I am still very new to using these forums, but just had my first sucessful solution today.
Is there a specific way to mark "a solution" was found, to close the question thread?
Is there a link available for general guidance on how forums should be made use of?

you could add the information to your original post so others can see it.
