Home app doesn't detect nest audio

Hello,

I am unable to cast content from any device to my nest audio. Upon clicking the cast button on my phone (or any device ex- P.C.) my nest audio doesnt show up. When I command google, it always requires 2 tries; I say hey google (followed by play music or do anything) it always blinks and then doesnt follow up, the second time I ask it to do something it follows up. Obviously my nest audio and my rest of the devices are connected to the same wifi. If I ask the speaker to play music, it plays music (linked to spotify, yt music) so it has access to the wifi internet. My wifi is an open guest network (required me to go to my providers portal and add MAC address to register it).

Stuff I've tried to fix the issue:

I have tried factory resetting it. I have tried connecting it to a hotspot on a second phone and connect to the hotspot on my first phone and setup the nest audio via that hotspot and phone 1: It works completely fine with this method i.e. able to cast from any device connected to hotspot and doesn't require 2 tries. But the hotspot doest solve my issue as I want my speaker to work with the wifi I have.

Can you please help me out, I'll gladly follow up with any other information required.

Thanks

Hi RohanTeo,

Thanks for reaching out and for providing detailed information on your issue and the steps that you've done — these are of great help!

Based on the information you provided it seems like the issue is on your router settings. Check the list below and try to adjust your router settings. If you need help in adjusting these settings you can contact your internet service provider for assistance..

  • Enable: Universal Plug and Play (UPnP), multicast, Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP)
  • Disable: AP / client isolation, virtual private networks (VPNs), proxy servers, IGMP Proxy. VPNs and proxy servers should be disabled on your computer as well (if applicable).
  • Change DNS addresses: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
  • If IPv6 is enabled, try disabling it for the meantime

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Juni

Hey,

So I tried the steps at another location (where I have my own network provider and router and it worked! Unfortunately the current place I'm residing at doesn't allow us access to the router settings as the network system is managed by the organisation and not by individuals residing. Anyways, thank you very much, the forum in general has been very helpful (and you :)).
