How do I answer a phone call on Google Home using just my voice?

I need to be able to answer and place phone calls without using my hands, and I know that Google Home can place phone calls when using Nest mini and I'm sure other similar speakers, but is it possible to receive a phone call as well? I do not want to use Google Meet or Voice. Of course, Google Assistant would be fine if it works properly for this purpose.

It seems this was not possible a few years ago according to what I read on the various forums/articles and saw on YouTube videos, but most of that material is at least 4 years old. At that time it was required to use Google Meet to receive phone calls, but perhaps things have changed. Amazon Alexa introduced that feature (NumberSync with AT&T) and it has been very helpful, but I find it is not always reliable. Sometimes the calling and receiving feature completely stops and no reinstallation or reconfiguring seems to help. That's why I'm hoping that Google has a solution that works better.

Hi MMSRQ,

Thanks for posting in the community!

I see that you have a question about receiving calls with Google Nest Displays and Speakers. I'm here to resolve any questions you have!

At this moment, Google Nest speakers and displays are able to make and receive calls in three different ways:

  • Google Meet calling is available in all countries and languages.
  • Google-supported calling: You can make calls to numbers in your Google Contacts, but you won't receive incoming calls.
  • Mobile calling with Google Fi and Google Voice: Available only in the US. Requires a Google Fi or Google Voice plan.

We appreciate your interest in expanding this functionality. Your feedback is valuable to us as we work to improve our products. Please share your ideas through our feedback form.

If you have more questions for me, feel free to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist further!

Best regards,

Nery.
