How do I change how conversational my assistant is on my google nest and hub?

Community Member

I would like to give my nest mini and hub display voice commands without the device speaking back.

There is an option to change the dpeech output for my phone in the Google Home app, but this setting isn't available for nest devices.

I found a previous thread for this issue that was blatantly ignored ( Kindly may this problem be reassessed and resolved.

Overall, I'd like to have my devices execute commands in silence - similar to how you can set an alexa device to speak only when neccessary.

There isn't a feature or setting that would currently enable you to do that unfortunately. This is mostly a user to user community, therefore if this is important to you, I’d encourage you to also send this feedback directly to Google. You will not receive a response, unless Google need more details from you, however the team are still reading the feedback.

Hello everyone,

@David_K, I'm grateful for your informative response.

@Zino, we understand that you want your Google Nest Mini and Google Nest Hub to perform your voice commands in silence without giving a confirmation. While the specific feature is unavailable, sending feedback will give our team more data that they can use to improve the overall experience of our customers, like what davidking suggested.

Let me know if you have other questions or concerns; otherwise, I’ll be locking this thread after 24 hours.
