How do I control volume on a speaker group? I found this one time on Google Assistant a few weeks ago but I've never been able to find out how to do it again.

You can adjust the volume of individual speakers using your voice or the by using the touch controls on the device itself, just the same as you would if it was a standalone speaker and not in a group.

To control the volume of the whole speaker group:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites.
  3. Tap the current media session, and adjust the volume there.

Hey - when I bought my 12 (!!!) google assistant smart speakers (9 traditional minis and 3 nest mini) it was possible to setup groups and control the volume of all speakers inside a group by simply saying "hey google - set volume to ..." and all of the speakers would adjust accordingly.

This feature - although advertised on various google site on the internet for a long time - was simply stolen from all the users just because google does not want to pay some fees for a patent to SONOs, right?

When do we get this feature back? Its so **bleep** annoying to adjust volume "individually" as you supposed. That not a solution - that's an imposition.

The current media session does not appear in FAVORITES.  How do I get a speaker group to appear in FAVORITES?

So you don't see a popup at the bottom of that tab, just above the menu bar at the bottom, with the currently playing media?

Thank you, thank you, thank you.  I do see it and it does just what I wanted to do.  I spent a lot of time researching this issue on the internet, and found some very complicated ways to do this.  I felt there must be a simple way.  And you knew how to do it.  Thanks!

Within the YouTube Music App, on my Pixel 7 Pro, I can control the volume simultaneously on all my speakers with Chromecast built in, including my JBL Authentics 500, with a press of the phone volume button. Or individually through multiple means...Google Assistant, Google Home, etc. Haven't tried the Spotify or Apple Music apps for Android.
