How do I pick a foreign voice?

SunnyRio

I have an original Google Home speaker.  I live in the UK, although the speaker is the American version.  It has two voices, British male and British female.  How do I change it to another voice, say with an American accent?  Surely it must be able to do a voice it would do should I take it back to the USA?

I've been able to possibly come up with a solution as I was able to replicate the issue you're having.

Go into Google assistant settings and click on Languages (For speaking to your assistant) and choose English(US) as the language.

I did the reverse (choosing English(UK)) and only had to voice options. Switched back to US and all voices available.

Google Home App>Settings>Google Assistant>All Assistant Settings .... Scroll down to Assistant Voice & Sounds.

Alternatively, if you don't have home app, can also go to:

Google App>Upper right corner profile>Settings>Google Assistant>Assistant Voice & Sounds.

Yes I've been there before.  It only has two, orange and red,  Orange is the male UK, red is the female UK.  there are no others.

From what I've researched, UK only has the two available. Unfortunately, I haven't seen a way to incorporate the other voices that US currently has.

Keep in mind this may or may not affect assistants ability to understand annunciation or deep accents. That I cannot test.

Thanks, this works, I can select all the accents now.  British has two, American has several, but the other international ones like English Thailand (which also have several voices) don't seem to have much of an accent.

I have zero accent so it understands me clearly in either language.

However I can put on accents.  I tried strong Yorkshire and Glaswegian and Australian, and it still understood me whether it was set to English British or English American.

Good to hear you were able to access the other voices and resolve your issue. Glad I could help 🙂
