How to play different Spotify songs on different google nest Mini's

I've spent a ridiculous amount of hours reading everything on Google I can regarding this seemingly very common issue and even more hours trying to implement the suggestions with minimal success.

We have multiple Sonos speakers in our home which have always worked fine with our Spotify family premium account and now have purchased 2 google nest Mini's for each of our children.  The issue (that everyone seems to be having) is allowing us and the two kids to listen to different things on Spotify.

After hours of research it seems I have had to create two new Google accounts, link a different Spotify to each, and create two new Google home accounts (there are now 3 in total).

I have removed the two kids google nest speakers from my own Google home account and added one to each of the "new" Google accounts/Google home accounts (each linked to a different Spotify account). I have also factory reset the Google Mini's.

It's a joke that it's this complicated. But all this has only solved one issue... Now we can have Spotify music playing on our Sonos speakers unaffected by what the kids do. But still only one of the kids can play Spotify on their nest speaker at a time .... as soon as the other starts something it's cuts Spotify off from the other nest.

So frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Greg11

I understand it can be frustrating to play different songs on each speaker. Creating separate Google accounts for each user was the right approach. This is because the system recognizes different users trying to play different content, rather than a single user changing content across devices.

Since you mentioned this is still affecting your children's devices, here's a helpful article from Spotify on managing playback with a Family Spotify Premium account. Please let us know if this resolves the issue.

All the best,

Josh
