How to verify that my Google Nest Hub Max border router is working?

Hi, I bought a brand new Google Nest Hub Max specifically to connect Matter (over Thread) devices since the Google Nest Hub Max is advertised as a Thead border router.

When I try to connect the Matter device (which is an Aqara Door and Window Sensor P2), I get the following message: "Can't connect to the Thread network NEST-PAN- [...]". (FYI: I've replace on purpose the rest of the Thread network name in this communication).

I'm on this issue for the last 3 days...

Here is what I've tried so far:

- Changed for PIv6

- I've verified that the firmware is up to date (on the Router, on the Google Nest Hub Max and on Google Home app) - Verified with the Google support already.

- I've applied all the Router changes Google suggested in the following link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9240155?sjid=15509626825081821545-NA&hl=en#zippy=%2Ccon...

- I've applied other suggested configurations such as disabling WMM APSD.

- I've reboot everything (Router, Google Nest Hub Max, The Aqara Device) many, many, many times.

- I've tested with 6 different Aqara P2 devices without success.

- The Google Nest Hub Max is accessible in Google Home.

- I've already chat with Google support 3 times over the course of the last 3 days.

- Background info: The Aqara Door and Windows sensor P2 does not need an Aqara hub or app to work (ther users were able to make it configured on Youtube).

So, all that being said, I doubt the Google Nest Hub Max is working as a Thread border router.

So my question is: How can I verify the Thread border router capability of the Google Nest Hub Max is working?

Hi CplChef,

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. You can use some Google devices as a Thread border router to create a Thread network, or if a Thread network exists in your home, your Google device can be used to extend the existing Thread coverage to the entire home. Check out the helpful article below to know more about it and to verify your device's thread connection.

Hi, as mentionned in my previous message, I am using a Google Nest Hub Max. This is a thread border router as per google specification. My question is still not answered:  How can I verify the Thread border router capability of the Google Nest Hub Max is working?

Hi there,

Thanks for confirming. If you followed the steps and are still not able to connect, try to reboot your Nest Hub Max and observe if it makes a difference. Also, could you provide us with the case number when you contacted our support team so we can check it?

I look forward to your response.

Regards,

Juni
