Hello,
When my family and I sit down for dinner, I ask my google hub max to play some music. Simple, right? But constantly it plays music videos (did you know music videos these days are like 10 minute tv shows with bad acting etc..) which distract my kids from dinner, and also plays concerts and live music that has people talking.
When I ask my home max in the living room to play music, it just plays normal songs as expected.
How can I get the devices to work the same way?
Thank you,
-Ryan

Hi ryannemeth,
Thanks for reaching out. Please try these steps below to turn on song-only mode on the YouTube Music app. Once done, please reboot your Nest Hub Max, then check if you'll still have the same issue.
Let us know how it goes.
Cheers,
Muddi

Hello,
I have confirmed that the "Don't play music videos" switch was already turned on in the YT music app. But I have still been seeing videos on my hub max since I got it.
Thank you,
-Ryan

Hey ryannemeth,
Thanks for trying. To confirm, does it happen on a specific song only? Please share a video showing the issue. In the video, please ask your Hub Max to play three different songs (no need to play it in full).
Keep us posted.
Cheers,
Muddi

Hello,
No, I do not ask for a specific song. I just say "Hey google, play some music"
Please provide a way to send you a video without attaching to this public forum.
I have confirmed that it does voice match to my account and still plays music videos.
Thank you,
-Ryan

Hello,
Can you please provide an update on a resolution to this issue? My Hub Max still constantly plays music videos and live version of songs.
I have not received an email and its been 2 weeks since I created this thread.

Hi ryannemeth,
We apologize for the delays. We are coordinating this with the team, and we will get back to you for update.
@Jplo: Have you tried the suggested steps above? Is it happening to all songs?
Cheers,
Muddi

Yes, this issue only seems to be happening on the hub max, I've upgraded about a month ago and didn't have this issue on the nest hub.. there is a work around, if you have the minis make a group and then play the music since the minis don't have a display it seems to override the video playback

Hey folks,
Just a quick update. I'm just checking some information from the team. I'll get back on this thread once I have additional information to share. Also, please try again to play a song on your devices then immediately send feedback once you experience the issue. Just say, "Hey Google, send feedback" followed by a brief description about the issue. Visit this link for more steps.
@Jplo: Thanks for the information, and I appreciate you for sharing some workaround.
Cheers,
Muddi

Hello @Muddi ,
In your 1st comment in this thread, you mentioned to change a setting in YT music on my phone. I cannot find any documentation that this setting does anything to music playing on the hub max. Is this an official setting to fix this issue on the hub max or was that just something to test?
I am still having this issue constantly every day. I say "hey google, play some music" and it will play tons of music videos and live version of songs with talking etc..
Please advise how to fix this. With other issues, I have been given a feedback code to say when I submit feedback, is there one for this issue?
Thank you,
-Ryan

Hi ryannemeth,
To answer your question, it is a setting from YouTube Music that will help us fix the issue. To confirm, did you send a feedback already?

Hello,
Yes. We still need the issue fixed. My hub max still play music videos, live songs, lyric videos when. I just ask to "play some music"
Please let me know how to fix this. Do not close this issue until it is 100% resolved.
Thank you,
Ryan

Correct, the issue still isn't fixed, and it's not a problem with YouTube music, the setting is on to not play videos, I don't have this issue on my nest hub just on the max
