Hub Max with outdated firmware

namhaiha

Hi,

My Nest Hub Max appears to have an outdated firmware version, comparing to the current list here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7365257?hl=en#zippy=%2Ccurrent-production-firmware-vers...

I tried to reset but the FW still stays the same.

Also, I notice the update channel name is “aruba dev beta channel”. Should I be concerned about this?

I had an issue where the screen turns of during youtube video play, while audio is still playing. Not sure if it’s because of the outdated FW.

Hi namhaiha,

This is not the experience we want you to have; let us help you. A few questions: when did your issue begin? Were there any recent changes made? When you did the factory reset, was it the same steps as what you see in this link? After the reset and the set up, is it working as it should be? Are you connected to a 2.4 GHz frequency or 5 GHz?

If your Nest Hub Max is on a firmware version older than the current version, try the following:

  1. Make sure their Google Home is powered via the provided power cable via a wall outlet.
  2. Make sure their Google Home is connected to the internet for at least 24 hours.
  3. Reboot their Google Home device. Let it be on a wall power outlet and not via power strip.
  4. Check the firmware version again after 24 hours.

Note: We typically roll out a new firmware version over a 2-week period. It may take some users up to 2 weeks to receive a new firmware version if it was recently released.

We can also try eliminating network issues. Try setting up your device using a mobile hotspot. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one to serve as a router and the other to be used to set up your Google Home or Nest devices). Once done, check if your device will have the same behavior.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Dan
