It would be useful if the Google Nest Hub Max could turn on lights in the room when it detects motion and the room is dark. It already detects motion but doesn't link this to any routine like turning on lights. When motion is no longer detected, it could turn the lights off after a set time, say 10 seconds.

The hub doesn't even need any additional sensors. All it would have to do is start a routine to turn lights on when motion is detected when the room is dark. It should be simple adding this functionality to our devices.

Hey folks,
Thanks for reaching out.
Automatically turning on lights when motion is detected isn't supported on Google Nest Hub Max, we're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback. You can use one of the ready-made routines so that you can trigger the action when you're home or set a Home and Away Routines.
Hope this helps!
Best,
Alex

It doesn't look like it is possible to start a routine by the hub detecting motion. Also there is no way to get a routine to work just when the hub detects the room is dark.
It most likely will need an enhancement to the hub or routines to turn on lights when motion is detected. Possibly something like the nest cams which turn on their floodlights when motion is detected. The hub should be able to turn on the connected lights.
thanks
Stephen

Hi Stephen,
Thanks for your suggestion. I know that this would be really helpful if this would be available on Google Nest devices. In line with this, we’d like to encourage you to send a feedback for any features that you’re looking forward to using with our Google Nest devices.
