Hub sometimes works in speaker group

My google nest hub only works in speaker group sometimes.  Sometimes it plays spotify with no sound.  I then have to add hub on its interface.  When I do this there is no volume control from spotify app.  I have reset the hub, reinstalled google home and locked the ip in the router.  I can't get the latest update on google home (Oct 05).  My phone has android 8.1 and tablet android 11.  Don't know if that can be a factor on updating or if I should just delete the one on the phone.

Thanks for this. However, this relates to situations where a customer is trying to add a device to multiple speaker groups. What about the problems referred to in this thread where a customer is trying to add a device to only one speaker group but the device is still not playing despite being part of that one speaker group? Thank you.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the help here, Princess and t34wrj.

BeerNecessities, sorry for the delay. Could you confirm if this is how you did the reset? Check out the article below.

Hi there,

Thanks for confirming. If possible, try to set up your device using another network and observe if you will get a different experience.

Thanks,

Juni

I set hub on a hot spot from PC.  It played on its own without the rest of the speaker group which was on original network.  I wasn't about to switch the other 4 speakers to the new network.  I had then to reset the hub to get it working on the old network again.  It updated at this time and played in the group one time.  Then when I tried to play speaker group again it failed to play just show the album info.  This is normal behavior when the hub is being asked to play a speaker group first thing in the morning.  The rest of the time it fails to cast.

Hello there,

Thanks for trying that, and I'm sorry that you are still experiencing it. Since the steps didn't work on your end, we'd be happy to take a look into this for you. Please fill out this form with all the needed information, then let me know once done.

We also need your device's firmware version. Check out the steps below on how to get it:

  1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
  2. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  3. Tap your device's tile.
  4. At the top right, tap Settings and then Device information.
  5. Under "Technical information," find Cast firmware: X.XXX.XXXXX.

Thanks,

Juni

The problem is that Google does not seem to WANT to fix this. It is persistent and is the topic of other threads. The firmware is up to date on my hubs. I have 5 of them. NONE will play in a group that contains any other type of speaker. I can put them in a group by themselves and they all play. Add another speaker and only that speaker plays, NO HUBS. Remove the speaker and the hubs play. That is not a reset/firmware etc bs problem. It seems to be by design. We need an answer. Is it something google intends to fix or not?
