Hub switching from dark mode to light mode by itself

Q79

Hub maxes in my home for weeks now have been switching themselves from dark mode to light mode. I switch them back to dark. Next day....yep....back to light mode all by themselves.

Contact Google. Get the usual 'turn it off and back on ' 'do a reset' 'leave feedback' 'send a pic' and all the usual nonsense.

After months of having issues with the live audio recording, now this.

So let me save some time. Here is a list of what I've done.

Reset both hubs (it happens on both)

Turned it off and back on

Reported it (pointlessly) to Google

Read email about how it's been escalated 🤣

Searched the net for a fix seeing as Google aren't sending one out

Has Google given up with these displays???

Hey @Q79,

I'm sorry to hear about the issues that you are having. Thanks for the list of your previous troubleshooting of the issue. I didn't see mentioned, but have you gone into the settings of the Nest Hub Max in the Google Home app and adjusted the Theme toggle to Dark mode? If that is what you have already been doing then I apologize.

If that method is not working then I am curious if you have an Automation set that is using a Custom Command to switch the display from Dark mode to Light mode. Might be a stretch but maybe there is something there.

Let me know if you find anything.

Are you actually saying that? Are you taking the Mick??? Are you actually suggesting that the fix for this fault is to 'turn dark mode on?'

And it says expert underyour name?

Just to add to Brett's reply...

There is a currently known issue surrounding display brightness. See this thread and replies from the Community Specialists: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Speakers-and-Displays/Automatic-Light-Dark-Theme-Switching-Is...

Google on dark. No automation set
