I am having trouble renaming my smart speakers

NestorGuzman

I recently moved some of my google home mini speakers around, therefore had to rename them and change their room setting.  The new room setting worked out normally, however the Home app keeps displaying the speaker under the old name.  When I go into settings and then Device Information, I see the listed Name as the new name but the main screen displays the old name.  Is anyone else having the issue?   In addition, when I go to edit the name again, even though on the device info the new name is displayed, on editing the old name appears again.

Hi NestorGuzman,

Thanks for visiting the Google Nest Community.

Let’s try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Go to Devices tab > Tap your Google Home speaker.
  3. Tap Settings > Remove device > Remove.
  4. From the Devices tab, scroll down to Other cast/Local devices.
  5. Tap your Google Home speaker > Add to a room. Follow the prompts in adding it back to a room. Edit the speaker name there.

Let me know how it goes.

Kind Regards,
Alex

Hello NestorGuzman,

I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Have you had the chance to try the suggestion above? If yes, how is it?
