I can't connect my Xbox One to my Google Home Mini

I can't connect my Xbox One to my Google Home Mini whatsoever. I have tried all official guides, my Xbox One is setup with the assistant feature toggled on, and when I try to connect my xbox to my Google Home, it just says "Could not reach xbox. Please try again". Like what?

Please help, thanks.

Hi goose0627,

Thanks for reaching out.

Sorry to hear about your experience on connecting your Xbox to your Google Home Mini. You can follow these steps and let us know if it works for you:

  1. In the Google Home app for iOS or Android:
    1. Tap + Add.
    2. Tap Set up device.
    3. Tap Have something already set up?
    4. Search for Xbox.
  2. Select Xbox and sign in with the Microsoft account you use on your console.
  3. Follow the instructions to pair your Xbox with your Google Assistant device and provide your Xbox device name.

Hope this helps.

Hi! Thanks for replying.

Well now some time later, I (accidentally) factory reset my phone. When I then remembered that I needed to install Google Home, I tried setting up the Xbox again, and it worked! So for me, factory reset did it. And concerning your guide, I did exactly that both before and after the factory reset, the only difference being that it worked after the fr.

Sincerely,

lindgren

Hi vilmerlindgren,

Thanks for the update.

I'm glad you were able to make that work again. Since this has been resolved, I'll be closing this thread now. In case you have other questions concerning your Google Home/Nest speakers, please feel free to start a new thread and I'd be glad to help.

Cheers,

Princess

Hi everyone,

Thanks for posting.

If you haven't link your Xbox, you can follow these steps:

  1. In the Google Home app for iOS or Android:
    1. Tap + Add.
    2. Tap Set up device.
    3. Tap Works with Google
    4. Search for Xbox.
  2. Select Xbox and sign in with the Microsoft account you use on your console.
  3. Follow the instructions to pair your Xbox with your Google Assistant device and provide your Xbox device name.

As soon as it is successfully linked, you can try these commands:

  • “Hey Google, play Fortnite on Xbox”
  • “Hey Google, turn on (or off) Xbox”
  • “Hey Google, pause (or resume) Xbox”
  • “Hey Google, volume up (or down) 5 on Xbox”
  • “Hey Google, launch YouTube on Xbox”
  • “Hey Google, mute Xbox”
  • “Hey Google, record that on Xbox”
  • “Hey Google, take a screenshot on Xbox”

Hope this helps.

Princess
