I want to “group” rooms of lights

I would like to be able to turn off several rooms of lights with a single command, like “hey google, lights off downstairs” instead of “hey google, living room lights off,” followed by “hey google, dining room lights off,” followed by “hey google, kitchen lights off,” etc. 

Can I assign rooms of lights to a group? It works great for speakers, why not lights?

That's not an available feature, unfortunately. However, you can create a routine that does that:
