I know there are other ways of solving this problem and it goes against the idea of "If you want a feature, just buy the newer device" but I'm gonna post it anyway.
So I know Google devices can already detect crying babies, alarms, etc (something that their buds do) and hopefully this is not limited to just those devices, other devices such as the Nest Mini or any of the other smart speakers can do this also (through cloud analysis).
The idea is to allow all the smart speakers detect when a baby is crying and then send an alert to a device(s) informing the parent. My kids are bit older now so I don't need to constantly monitor how they are sleeping, my scenario is I'll be in my office on one side of the house while my kids sleep on the other side and if they cry I can't hear them, I just need to be alerted that they are crying so I can go in to them.
Of course I can spend more money on a Nest Cam or any other baby monitor but that's another device, another plug socket and another thing to sort out, when I already have a smart speaker in every room that can do all this for me.

Hi Yega,
I understand how this feature can be useful for your daily needs as a parent. However, baby cry detection is yet to be supported on Google Home or Nest devices. You can visit the article Learn about sound detection for speakers and displays for further information about the supported feature as of the moment. But no worries, we're always looking for ways to improve, and we'll take this as feedback.
Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with.
Regards,
Alex

Hi Alex,
Thank you for responding. I was just hoping to share my idea and hopefully someone might think it's worth doing. I expect if it does ever get implement kids will be all grown up so I won't make use of it but other parents might.
I don't know if there is a concept of closing these ideas or issues but feel free to do so.
Cheers.
