Is there a technical reason the Nest Hub cannot access nest cam videos?

I have two Nest Outdoor cameras and several Nest hub devices.

I can stream the live video from the camera to the net hub devices.
I pay for the cloud storage, but I cannot find a way to view history event videos on these devices.

Is there a technical limitation that prevents this feature from being possible?

The videos are stored in the cloud so all it needs to do is stream a video, which it seems great at.

Even trying to download a video from the event history onto my Pixel phone... the mp4 video has no option to Cast it to my Nest Hub Max so that I can view it on a bigger screen.

The integration of the Nest devices seems very limited, which is strange for Google.

Maybe I'm missing an obvious solution?

@mratx

Google Nest does not provide a way for us to access video history from a Google Nest camera on a Nest Hub.  Currently, that can only be done from the Google Home app.

I don't think there's a way to cast video clips from Google Nest cameras to our Nest Hubs.

I also tried to cast the video from my phone to the hub... by downloading it first... but that's not supported. I guess I' could publish the video to Youtube since Hub loves to stream from there... but that's not very reasonable.

Hello everyone,

I'm grateful for your helpful input here, @MplsCustomer.

@mratx, casting videos can only be done on cast-enabled apps like YouTube, Netflix, and more. Downloaded videos can't be cast since they're not in a supported app. I highly suggest sharing feedback about this with our product engineers, who continuously work on improving the features on our devices.

Let us know if you have additional questions or concerns about your device; otherwise, I'll close the thread after 24 hours.

Best,
Lovely
