Hi,

This is driving me crazy.

My daughter wanted an Google Nest Hub. How can I connect this into my home and limit it so she cannot play and control other devices in home?

She have an tablet, I've tried sharing the device in Family Link. I've tried connect the device in a new home. I've tried connect it into wifi guest network. It still has access to everything else.

Is this a limitation?

Regards Daniel

Hi @Daniel1239,

Thank you very much for contacting this community! I understand the issue you are experiencing with the Google Nest Hub for your daughter, where she has access to the other devices even though you want to limit her access. I appreciate the time you have taken to perform some troubleshooting steps, like using Family Link as well as using a guest Wi-Fi network. I'm here to help!

To help me find the best solution, I'll need to ask you a few questions:

  • What is the exact model of your Nest Hub?
  • How many home structures do you have on your account?
  • What is the model of your cellphone from which you're sharing the devices with your daughter?
  • What is the version of the Google Home app?

I would like to share some troubleshooting steps that might help you.

  • Remove your daughter from the people who have access in the Google Home app.
  • Add your daughter again as a member in your Google Home app account.

Visit our Help Center to learn more about Share a home and devices in the Google Home app.

Please feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.

Best regards,

Eduardo

Hi,

Happy for reply finally!

Home version: 3.30.1.6.

Nest model: GUIK2.

I have 1 home at the moment. Did try adding another home with only the nest on it. It still finds all other devices. Because of local network. I tried with a guest wifi, it still finds.

I tried adding it on tablet device Samsung latest Android and same home version.

Regards Daniel.

Hi @Daniel1239,

Thank you very much for confirming that you've already done what was previously discussed. At this point, you can find this option as follows.

  • Open the Google Home app.
  • If you have more than one home, tap Favorites.
  • At the top, select the home you want to edit.
  • Tap Settings and then Add.
  • Enter the name or email address of the person you want to invite to your home.
  • You'll be in "Full control of devices and services" page, tap in next.
  • You'll be in "Home activity" page, tap in next.
  • You'll be in "Contact information and home address" page, tap in next.
  • In the section where you send the invite to your devices, you'll see an option where it says "Device access", if you select that you'll be able to share the devices that you want for your daughter.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Eduardo
