Issue connecting Nest speaker to Google Assistant account in setup

iameytan

I am using an iOS iPhone 12 with the latest version of Google Home App.

I took a nest audio speaker associated with my account in a second home and did a factory reset for it.

When I try to add it to my primary home I get stuck on connected my assistant account to it and get the following error.

“The operation couldn't be completed. (kGSKError Domain error -83902.)”

To Troubleshoot I have reset the device multiple times and tried associating it with different rooms. I also uninstalled and reinstalled the Google home app from my phone as well as tried to install a different speaker I have (Google nest mini) which was successful for the nest mini but not the nest audio speaker.

Any ideas what I can do here?

I ended up resolving this by changing the default language in my apple iphone 12 iOS version 17.2 to English US (from English AU) as well as changing my Google account to English US and my assistant settings to Google US.

It appears that Google has some check between language and physical location that creates a network area (maybe this is something to ensure I am using an American purchased Google Home which I am).

Very strange bug with very strange fix.

Hello iameytan,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing that upon trying to set up your Google Nest Audio. Could you tell us the iOS version of the phone you're using for setting up your device? Lastly, kindly provide your device's cast firmware version?

Check the firmware version of your speaker or display

To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
  2. Tap and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings and then Device information.
  4. Under "Technical information," check for Cast firmware: "X.XXX.XXXXX." If the device is on Fuchsia, check for System firmware version: "X.XXXXXXXX.X.XXXXXXX".

We'd love to take a closer look into this.

Best,

Princess
