I set up a little routine that I was planning to use as my morning alarm on my new Nest Audio, but I'm having issues getting it to play Spotify. It starts correctly and seems to do all steps except playing the music, which worked a few times but mostly it doesn't. I cannot replicate this when I'm testing the routine, it just happens in the morning. I don't have problems playing Spotify during the day at all. I'm guessing it's some issue connecting to Spotify after night. I tried shifting steps around and different music commands, but I can test it only once a day. I have Spotify premium, full routine below, would appreciate and tips, thanks!
Starter = When time is 7:00
1. Adjust media volume to 25%
2. Play music -> Shuffle my playlist Theo's positive morning vibes on Spotify on Bedroom speaker
Delay start - after 20 sec
3. Turn on bedside lamp, change brightness to 25 %, change color to orange red
4. Play a delightful chime
5. Announce -> Good morning
6. Tell me the time
7. Custom action -> Tell me what song is playing

Thanks for posting in the Community.
I appreciate all the info you've shared and it seems that this routine were perfectly made. Have you already tried deleting and re-creating the routine and see if this would make any difference?
Also, I'd like you to try creating a routine and add some actions one by one as you try it.

Hi,
I tried rebuilding the routine as a new one from scratch, which unfortunately didn't work. Now I'm trying to build it one by one and so far it seems like the music starts if it's the only thing in the routine, but if I add the delay and the other parts, it mostly doesn't play. So now it's at least able to wake me up but I cannot get it to work the way I planned. I can also test it only once a day, so it's a slow process.

I did some more testing and it seems I can only get it to consistently start playing music if that is the only action in the routine. Even just adjusting volume before playing makes it fail a lot of mornings. I also noticed that sometimes when it fails and I open Spotify, there seems to be something playing, but Spotify connect is not active and the sound is not comming from the phone or any other device. The first song then continues playing even after it's finished, it just continues counting the seconds above the song length. I don't really know what else to try but at least I can get it to wake me up this way.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I filled out the form and my Home app version is 3.5.1.4. Unfortunately the routine now has trouble playing Spotify in the morning even if it's the only action, it just doesn't happen as often so I didn't notice it before. I included this in the form. Thanks, T.
