Lag When Casting Edited Videos from CapCut to Nest Hub – Any Fix?

Hey everyone,

I use video editing apps like CapCut and InShot on my Android phone to create short reels and edits. But whenever I try casting the final video to my Nest Hub or via Chromecast, the playback either lags, freezes, or the audio gets out of sync.

Here’s what I’ve tried:

  • Exporting videos in 1080p or lower

  • Ensuring both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network

  • Restarting both the phone and the Nest Hub

Despite this, the issue persists — especially with slightly longer edits (over 1 minute). The same videos play perfectly on my phone and even on my smart TV via USB.

Anyone else facing this? Is this a Nest Hub limitation, or could it be an issue with how CapCut compresses/export files?

Would love some advice or potential workarounds.

Thanks!

Hi @Jason1999,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand that you use editing apps like CapCut and InShot to create and edit short reels. However, you're experiencing issues like the audio being out of sync or the video freezing when you cast them to your Nest Hub or Chromecast.

I appreciate your efforts in performing those troubleshooting steps, such as making sure your devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, restarting them, and exporting the video in 1080p. No worries, I'm here to help!

To provide the most accurate troubleshooting steps I'd like to ask you a few questions.

  • What is the specific model of your Chromecast?
  • Can you provide us with a video of the issue when you cast to both devices? This would be extremely helpful in diagnosing the problem.
  • How often does this issue happen? (ie: every time you use the app, once a day, occasionally, etc.)
  • Do you have any other streaming devices (e.g., Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV)? If so, does the same issue happen on those devices?
  • When you cast from your phone to your Nest Hub, does this only happen with videos from CapCut and InShot, or does it also happen with videos from other apps? (e.g., Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, etc.)

Please feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.

Best regards,
Eduardo
