Google has really started forcing music segregation. Even as brief as a month ago, you could say play x on y. If y didn't have a screen, it would just play the audio. Youtube was better, because it had everything. Basically unless it's via Youtube Music it says it can't do it now.

What's the command? I could try it on my Google p.o.s.

ran into this same situation and solution to this is to tell google “to play music from youtube music” and it will do it

It’s not working for me also. I just noticed the issue 2 days ago and thought it would go away by itself, but so far it hasn’t shown any signs of improvement. I even tried the approach that @Kittyisa90 suggested, but it doesn’t work.

It just says “I can’t do that here, but you can ask me to play it on one of your other devices”. I’m not sure if that means play it on a chrome cast connected device only?

Obviously the only way around this is by connecting via Bluetooth to play music from Youtube music, but this is a major flaw and was one of the reasons why I loved using this smart clock in the first place. Without it, it’s just a clock for me.

I hope this gets escalated. I noticed a similar thread on the Lenovo forums, but they don’t seem to provide much help: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Smart-Display-Lenovo-Smart-Clock-with-Google-Assistant/smart-clo...

Good morning
It's been the same thing for me for a few days

also note that since this morning the wake-up routines programmed on google home no longer work either

like the daily alarm clock by a radio hasn't worked for a few months

the further we go in time the less things work with my lenovo devices.

I just tried it now and it appears to be working again. Will update if anything changes.

Hi jp01,

We’re glad YouTube is now playing on your Lenovo display. About the routine, could you tell us more about it? What is the error message when setting up routine? Is it also on your Lenovo display?

By the way, please note that we have very limited support for third party speakers with built-in Google Assistant like Lenovo. Best to report this with Lenovo support if we’re not able to find a solution.

To start with, it would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord of your router, followed by your Lenovo display.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers,

Dan

What was the solution? Youtube music does not work by voice command on my device anymore as of a few weeks ago. I have to go to the touch screen. The voice commands will work with other providers like iHeartRadio and Pandora, but not YouTube Music. Also, during my bedtime routine when Google asks me what time to set an alarm, when I tell it what time, it states "Got it. Sorry, that can't be done on this device. Good night". Even though it says it can't do it, it does it anyway. I've unplugged it and plugged it back in multiple times, and factory reset it twice. It seems to be having an issue with the internet in a way because it took quite some time to get it connected to the internet, even after removing it from Google Home and re-adding. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Google will stop supporting connected screens from its partners. Google's policy regarding its products and services appears once again to leave major market players and consumers in limbo.

This time, it is connected screens equipped with Google Assistant that are in Google's line of sight, those called Smart Displays. Third-party voice assistants developed by renowned brands such as Lenovo, LG or JBL. These devices are on the verge of becoming obsolete, like Facebook's a few months ago.

Hello everyone,

Apologies for the inconvenience but, as mentioned above, we have very limited ways to troubleshoot 3rd party devices. If issues aren’t resolved on basic troubleshooting, I suggest you reach out to the manufacturer itself for advanced troubleshooting. If you have Google Nest devices and would like assistance about it, let us know otherwise, I'll be locking this thread after 24 hours.

Kind regards,

Dan
