When I use the Google Home app and "cast my audio" to any speaker (1st generation, 2nd generation, Nest Mini) the volume is much lower than if I just play the same audio directly from the speaker.
Even if I set the volume to 100%, the volume is lower if casting instead of commanding the speaker to play the music.
This happens with Spotify, and Google Assistant. For example, if I play music on my phone (Pixel 5a) and use the Google Home app to cast my audio, the volume is low, although it's on 100%. But instead if I use the Spotify app, or say "Hey Google, play music", or any other app, the volume is loud, at 100%.
In summary, the Google Home app audio casting is too low compared to doing to the same directly from any other app, or by using voice commands.
EDIT: I've been using these speakers and apps since 2019, and this is the first time the sound is low when casting. This didn't occur before. Current Google Home app version I'm using is 3.1.1.15

Confirming broadcast audio isn't as loud as when asking Google to play a song

Hi folks,
Thanks for reaching out and for the details you've shared. You can both try to reboot your Nest speakers and observe if it makes a difference. For DFM, reinstalling the Google Home app might also help. You can also try using another phone to isolate this.
Keep me posted.
