Lower the volume of videos and music when using Google Assistant

I cast music and video from my android phone to my home smartdisplay (JBL Linkview) 

This has always worked well, until a few month ago when the volume stopped being lowered when Google assistant was listening while Youtube videos are playing.

*Interestingly the volume still lowers when using Youtube Music or any other app to cast media.

Google assistant is unable to hear the correct commands over the playing media.

According to the docs, this is expected behaviour when casting from phones "At the moment"

This is very annoying and there is no real explanation provided.

Does anyone know why this is and when it might be fixed?

We hope you were able to get the help you need but if you're still having trouble, please retrain your Assistant to recognize your voice through the Voice match. Rebooting your JBL speaker might also help.

If the issue persists, feel free to submit another post and provide as many details as possible so that others can lend a hand.
