I listen to music while I fall asleep, the lowest volume has been perfect and has been for years. But today this got changed: anything from 3-10% is the same volume and much louder than before, while anything lower just mutes the sound altogether. Needless to say, I can't fall asleep when the music is way too loud for comfort.
Please revert whatever changes got made to the volume system as soon as possible, I need my music to fall asleep.

I’ve got the same issue. I’ve always left my audio at 17% when I go to bed, but now even 1% sounds like if I had set it at 20% previously

Harman Kardon Citation Tower user here. Exactly the same problem. We used to have 7% for background music, and about 15% would be enough for cleaning and doing chores. Now at 7% it is loud enough to do vacuum cleaning around the house and still hear the music. 4% is too loud for having conversations with guests. So this issue spans multiple brands/platforms that use built-in google home/assistant.

Same here!

You have citation equipment as well (with same issue) you mean?
04-13-2023 11:57 AM
Yes, I have Harman Karman Citation Tower and have same issue - the volume level had a dramatic change some time ago and now it's really hard to use the speakers. It's too loud and it's impossible to control the volume (change from 1 to 10 % gives you only 10 stops and above 10% it's too loud - volume level used to be ok in 1-50% range for me)

Hi folks,
I hope you all are doing well. After a series of investigations, our team found out that this may be due to adjustments made by certain music providers. We're making minor adjustments on our end that should improve the experience.
Regards,
Juni

Any ETA on when this update will be released?
04-20-2023 05:44 AM
When can we expect to see the adjustments? The experience is still really, really bad!

Any news on when these updates will be rolled out?

Its been around 2 and a half months since the start of this thread and a month since this message, are we ever getting a fix?
05-27-2023 12:14 PM
It's been six weeks since this answer and three months since this thread was created. Can we at least get confirmation that this is still being looked at?
05-28-2023 02:49 AM
More adjustments need to be made. It is loud enough to be heard in other rooms at 5% volume and other apps are as soft as a whisper. Please give us more control over personal volume levels.
06-05-2023 12:27 PM
I'm really starting to lose my patience with this, when I opened this thread I thought it would be fixed in a couple of weeks at most. It doesn't seem like it would be difficult, especially not for a company like Google.
Even if the adjustments were made by Spotify, I expect Google to either sort it out with them or improve the experience on their own end. People have paid for these products and expect the quality to be (and stay) up to par.
At the very least, there are a few small things that could greatly improve the experience in the mean time:
* Fix the bug where voice commands won't lower the volume below 2.5% -- if you tell the speaker to set the volume to 2.4% or lower it will just be muted. This doesn't happen if you manually set the volume in the Google Home app.
* Give us more precise control over the volume in the Google Home app -- it's way too hard to hit the sweet spot between 2% and 2.5%. One tiny bit makes too much of a difference.
* A night mode for the app would be nice, so I won't burn my eyes when I adjust the volume at night.

Is this really the best we’re gonna get? It’s been 3 months since we brought up this issue and 2 months since this update, but it’s still the same. At this point I’m seriously considering ditching my google home and finding a different speaker
04-13-2023 03:54 PM
If this is not improved soon, i think you and I should get in touch to compose a combined email to HK.
03-14-2023 02:29 AM
Just here to agree and add to the thread so hopefully it's sorted. I work from home and have music on in the background but as a fair portion of my job is phone based I now have to swap between 1% and off rather than just having it on 5/10% like I used to. Stupid change and needs to just be changed back as it was fine before.

I have 4 google nest mini's and the volume level at 8% is just about right for listening, but it is really problematic to adjust the volume level if a loud or quiet song starts playing. I have to go into the app and open each speaker and spin the wheel to adjust it 1%. This is really frustrating. It started this issue about a week ago. Before it was about 15% to 20% was perfect. I tried rebooting the speakers and no luck. Do have to reset all 4 of these and set up the whole group again? It seems like there should be an easier way to set a baseline volume.
The devices are all on the same wifi. They are not connected via bluetooth, so there shouldn't be any remembering the last volume level issue. I normally start casting music from my spotify account on my phone, and then I control spotify using the software on my PC while I work.
I'm at my wit's end trying to research this. I can't find anything remotely close to my problem on the internet.

I'm having similar issues.
In the last week or two Spotify is extremely loud. I used to be able to fine tune the volume using my phone's slider/buttons but now it's either "slightly too loud" or completely silent.
I also can't find anything about it and I don't know if it's a Spotify update or something specific to the Nest Mini.
03-07-2023 05:47 AM
Your comment about Spotify got me thinking it may be something with the Spotify app, so I tried it with Pandora today and I am getting the same volume issues. 😞 I wonder if the Mini's got an update pushed to them that might be causing this.

Same issue with my Nest Mini G2 and it is annoying manually controlling the volume between songs. The volume should be levelling for my music just like it used to do, but it's not like that anymore.
I have a subscription to YT Premium and use my speaker to listen to music daily and this problem started sometime in mid-2022. Let's just say I have a lot of patience but I'm starting to think about not using it anymore!!
Please listen to us here and find a way to fix uneven volume issues with your products.
Thanks, Braden

Same problem. 1% is way too loud.
03-14-2023 05:23 PM
was totally fine until recently and the volume is suddenly much louder than previously even at the same percentage as before
now even 1% is too loud for me at night and i have powered on and off the speaker, redownloaded spotify and reatarted my phone
this is noticed when playing spotify from my iphone on the speaker
03-19-2023 05:36 PM
same man, i used to be able to have my speaker on 9-13 and be able to sleep fine with it. could hear it but it wasn't loud enough to keep me up. now my 1% is basically silent but my 2+% is so loud, even when I go to change it very slightly in the iphone control center there is just a point it jumps from super quiet to pretty loud. reset my nest and everything and still no fix 😞

Could we have news about this issue please?
It's very annoying...

I've solved the problem by getting my stereo separates, speakers, and cd's and vinyl out the loft! Now I'm in full control 🙂

What's a cd? What's a vinyl?!?!
Jk 😉
