My morning routine is set to activate when cancelling my morning alarm, but when I set a Monday to Friday morning alarm the routine won't trigger. It will sometimes trigger if I just ask to be woken up at a random time in the day if I go for a nap but the morning recurring alarm doesn't. This particularly seems to be a problem when Sleep Sensing is active.
I've deleted the actions of the routine and recreated it, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, done a factory reset and none of those have had any effect.

This problem is reproduceable. I have exactly the same problem here..

I have the exact same problem. I'm guessing that the Sleep report is pausing the trip to the morning routine and when you dismiss that it cancels everything in the queue.

I found a workaround. When you set a trigger in the morning routine for starting when an alarm is stopped it seems to work.

Not when sleep tracking is turned on. As per the discussion above. If I turn sleep tracking off, the routine runs when I dismiss the alarm. When sleep tracking is on, there is no way to run the morning routine without dismissing the sleep report, which seems to cancel running of the morning routine. Seems like the developers at google didn't take that into account when developing the feature...or tested it, as they would have found the issue simply enough. It is 100% reproducible. A relatively simple fix would be to move the sleep report to after the morning routine runs, or not run the report at all unless the human asks for it. In that way, the human could put it in the morning routine to pull it up at a convenient time.

Try the following: switch off to trigger the morning routine in the alarm setting. Turn on trigger on alarm stop in the trigger section within the morning routine. This works for me, even having sleep tracking on.

I'll let you know tomorrow morning. Right now, I think I have both set "alarm to trigger morning" and morning routine trigger. So, I'll fix that up and see what happens....I'll turn sleep monitoring back on as well. If no go, then I'll turn sleep monitoring off again and see what happens on Friday.

Interesting results this morning.
So, with alarm set:
- without parameter to run good morning routine,
- Sleep tracking turned on
Good Morning Routine with Trigger to turn on when alarm dismissed.
Results:
- Alarm triggers (yea, I'm awake)
- Sleep report triggers (fine)
- Good Morning routine does not read weather, local news, nor play my local radio station
- Good Morning routine turns on my lights (yea)
Manually, I dismiss my sleep report. Say: Say good morning google, which runs the above missing commands. (my house won't re-run the lights as it knows they are already on).
So, tomorrow I'll try same with sleep tracking turned off, but as it stands now, I'm believing that sleep tracking report interferes with the good morning routine...at least from an audio perspective. Dismissing the report dismisses all the items to be run in the queue (if there is one)...ie weather report, news report and streaming audio.

Basically the same result for me. Tried the workaround mentioned and turned off morning routine in the alarm but turned it on for alarm dismissal in the routine. Did absolutely sod all. Got the sleep report and nothing else. Didn't even turn my lights on.

Latest update:
So, with alarm set:
- without parameter to run good morning routine,
- Sleep tracking turned off
Good Morning Routine with Trigger to turn on when alarm dismissed.
Results:
- Alarm triggers (yea, I'm awake)
- Good Morning routine read weather, local news, and played my local radio station
- Good Morning routine turns on my lights (yea)
In other words, everything works as expected. So it seems like the Sleep report prohibits any routine from running properly. I guess Google Nest folks didn't test that at all, because it is 100% reproducible. Would be nice if they fixed it. Either by giving the sleep report at the end of running the routine, or by fixing it so I can see the report while listening to weather/news and finally my local radio station.

So with sleep monitor turned off, routine runs as expected. Would be nice to see a fix for this.

Hi Nelson,
try to put the radio streaming at the very end of the good morning routine. This works for me, even with sleep tracking on.
01-07-2022 11:40 AM
Media playback goes at the end anyway.
01-07-2022 11:40 AM
Radio streaming is at the end. When I turn sleep tracking on I get no audio at all. My good morning routine is in order:
- Weather
- Local News
- Upcomming Events
- Turn on lights
- Stream radio
None of these work with sleep tracking turned on. I can't proceed until I dismiss the sleep report and that seems to kill the whole morning routine. If I dimiss the sleep report early lights don't turn on. If I dismiss it after 30 seconds or so the lights turn on, but no audio on any of my read items.

I have the same problem now. It worked until last Sunday, but now the morning routine does not trigger when sleep sensing is enabled. So google offers an alarm clock that does not support radio alarm and also a workaround with setting the radio alarm in the morning routine is not possible. This are severe product limitations and this are functions that described as available product features. Can someone form the moderators please escalate this to the responsible engineering team.

Any chance that Sunday was a software update to your nest? Mine is a brand new nest and did an upgrade as soon as it was turned on, so it should be running latest. My firmware is: 1.56.265669
Software version is: 45.0.26.############.
Here's a link on how to find that info:

There was no software update. It is interesting that my Firmware version is 1.56.276689. This did not change since 14.12.2021. What is also interesting is the fact, that my morning routine did trigger today. This is quite mysterious.

I'm getting the exact same issue.
Sleep sensing on: no morning routine
Sleep sensing off: morning routine works perfectly.
Hopefully someone looks into this.

To be honest, I'm starting to doubt they will. Seems to be a common problem that's totally repeatable and breaks the function of the product but mugs like us keep buying them so Google keep churning them out with no need to do any big fixing or listen to their community. It's very frustrating.

Hey all,
Sorry for the late reply. I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help with your alarm not working as intended? I understand this is not ideal. Please let me know if you are still having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.
Best regards,
Jake

Hey Jake, there is still the same issue for everyone.
05-06-2022 04:49 AM
Yes still same issue....plus the one I mentioned before on cancelling sunrise doesn't trigger the alarm at the alarm time, nor does it run the morning routine. Either triggering the alarm at the set time, or cancelling the alarm and running the morning routine would be acceptable outcomes.

I've got the exact same problem. And I believe that in December the routine and sleep sensing was working. Now I have to shut of sleep sensing otherwise my morning routine will not automatically work. I hope they fix it, this is why I got this Nest Hub for my bedroom and the Max for my family room.

5 months later, I have this issue intermittently. It seems the Sleep Tracking will display a screen requiring a response and this prevents the alarm / morning routine from progressing. It does not happen all the time, but when it does the morning routine is not triggered. Clicking "dismiss" on the sleep tracking dialogue does not allow the alarm process to continue.
I also found a reset does not fix this issue. Any other advice, other than disabling sleep tracking?
As an additional note, I sometimes find the routine will partly run, then stop midway for no apparent reasons.
05-17-2022 05:24 PM
Based on my experience with this issue, I believe once you move a certain way, the sleep sensing tech assumes you're awake and done sleeping. That's when it pops the sleep report up and stops your morning routine. I've had the feature turned off for months now.
05-18-2022 04:17 AM
I would have thought that Google would have tested their "features" before releasing them to production/public. As this thread clearly demonstrates very little to no testing was done on this feature.

Best option is to report it from the device so the google guys get the message that it isn't 1 or 2 people. Right now the only option for working alarm and sleep tracking is a different product. Wish that wasn't so.
Usually when the routine stops for no reason, partially or mid way through it is a networking issue somewhere. If your house router is having issues (my isp provided one is aweful), it will occassionally glitch out. Sometimes it's the isp itself. I live in a house where we consume high amounts of bandwidth, multiple video conferences, streaming tvs and just plain internet surfing simultaniously. 8 devices wirelessly 2 hard wired. The cheapo router sometimes just can't handle it. We reboot it almost monthly to keep it sane. New router is on my horizon.

I have another issue with sunrise Alarm, basically if you cancel sunrise alarm, it doesn't run your morning routine, nor does it allow the actual alarm to trigger. I'll open another thread on this one.
