Music Not Streaming After Snoozing Nest Hub (2nd Gen)

I set my Nest Hub 2nd Gen to stream from an iHeart radio station for my alarm every morning.  Everything works fine, but if I tell Google to snooze for 5 minutes, only the base alarm sound plays after 5 minutes instead of my radio stream playing as desired.  I had a first gen Google Hub and after snoozing the iHeart radio stream would always play after the snooze time had elapsed.  This 2nd gen device will only play the radio stream when the primary alarm time is reached, but never streams after I have snoozed the alarm.  I hope I am explaining this clearly enough.  Anyone else having this problem, and if so have you found a solution?  I would really like to get this working properly.

Thanks in advance for your help.  🙂

I have a similar, but not identical problem.  If I set a daily recurring radio alarm (SiriusXM), it will work fine for a few days, but if I ever snooze it, any future recurrences will just play one of the defalt Google alarm chimes.  I have to cancel and recreate the recurring alarm to get it working again.

I've also noticed that after a few days or weeks into the recurrence, my radio alarm will not go off reliably.  At the expected time, the radio will play for maybe half a second before turning itself off.  The Nest Hub shows there's a alarm scheduled at bedtime, and if you ask "how long from now until my alarm goes off" it will report the time difference until the scheduled time.  I've had to resort to setting a recurring backup alarm (non-media) a couple minutes later to make sure that I wake up.  Canceling and recreating the recurring media alarm fixes it for a few days before it happens again.

I bought the Nest Hub to replace a traditional radio alarm clock and would really like to get it to work properly.  If not, I might have to switch back to a traditional alarm.

Hey AeroTechDawg,

I am glad you were able to resolve the issue with an older device, and thank you for those details. With you no longer having the other device to troubleshoot, I am going to lock the thread at this time. If you have any questions from here, please feel free to create a new post.

Best regards,

Jake

Hey all,

Sorry for the late reply. I wanted to follow up and see I could be of any help. I found an article that has some troubleshooting steps that could help resolve the issue. Please let me know if you are still having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Best regards,
Jake

Thanks for the reply.  Hopefully that helps for others, but it didn't work for me.

I just confirmed that my SiriusXM subscription is linked to my Google Home.  If I say "Hey Google, play SiriusXM channel ##," it works.  The issue that I have is that if I set up SiriusXM as my radio provider on a recurring alarm it works until I snooze it even once.  After that, each recurrence no longer works.  At the alarm time, I'll hear a very quick audio blast for half a second, then nothing. Most times, this isn't enough to wake me up, so I'll wake up hours later wondering why the alarm never went off.

If I set up a one-time alarm to play the exact same SiriusXM station, it works fine.  If I set up a new recurring alarm, it works fine until I snooze it.  Once I snooze it, that recurring alarm is broken forever until I delete and re-create it.

Hi Jake,

Yes, I am still having the same problem.  I actually purchased a 1st gen Google Hub (small model) so that I can replace the Nest Hub currently on my nightstand.  The first gen hub that I had before I installed the 2nd gen Nest Hub always worked great.  For some reason there are some glitches with the newer Nest Hub that I just don't like.  The Snooze issue is one of them.  Also, no matter how high I set the volume for the radio to play for the alarm event, it always comes on at a very low volume.  I have triple checked all of the settings but I cannot find anything that would be causing either of these problems.  I am really hoping that the next generation of the hub will work much better than this 2nd gen is.  The first gen worked great, and the only reason I replaced it with a 2nd gen model is that I wanted some of the newly added features.  I am learning that buying the latest and greatest model isn't always a good idea.

If you have any ideas of how I can fix the problems with the 2nd gen hub, please let me know.  Otherwise I am just going to replace it with the 1st gen hub that I just bought.  I plan to do the swap over the July 4th holiday, so please let me know if there is something I should try first before switching them out and throwing the 2nd gen hub in the trash.

Thanks,

~ Marty

Hopefully you can help the other members having these problems.  I actually uninstalled and threw away by 2nd gen Hub and installed a 1st gen hub, and now the problems with the radio alarm volume and snoozing issues are gone.  It's pretty sad when an older generation device performs its functions better than the newer generation.  Definitely makes a guy think twice before buying any new Google products.  😔
