Hi,
My google nest mini keeps playing sleep sound all night when I use the bedtime-routine. Earlier it stopped after about 1 hour, but now it keeps playing all night. I have activated the sleep sound country night.
What can I do to make it play for 1 hour again? I don’t want it to keep playing all night.
I have tried setting up a new similar routine, but it keeps playing through the night in the new routine as well.

I resolved my own issue by creating a custom routine that includes the custom action, “play country nights for 60 minutes”. Of course you can substitute any sleep sound for “country nights”.

Hey all,
We've heard feedback that turning off sleep sounds after 1 hour was insufficient for some of our users, so we made the decision to remove the end time. We're currently investigating ways to build a comparable solution and appreciate your patience.
Best regards,
Jake

I just recently started having the same problem! Must have been some update, hopefully can find a solution.

Hi folks,
Thanks for bringing this up.
Sorry to hear about what you're experiencing. We'd love to know more about this by answering these questions:
If reset is not yet done, let's go ahead and try that to see if this will fix the issue.
Let me know how it goes.

It started sometime last week I would say. I tried to put in a new commando tonight after “Play music” that said “Paus the music in 60 minutes”. But obviously that didn’t work as “Play music” must be last in the chain of commands. And I just woke up the morning after and the sleep sound is still playing.
I will unplug the device today and see if that works. Are you saying a factory reset is needed if that doesn’t work?

Hi ponkan75,
Thanks for responding. If unplugging doesn't change anything, let's perform the factory data reset and see how it goes.
Keep me posted.

Princess

So what’s the scoop - happening to everyone - fixing it ?
10-04-2022 08:08 AM
I noticed this change a few months ago, apparently the sleep sounds are meant to last for 12 hours and was probably a glitch in the software that’s since been updated (just spoke to google help centre via chat). It’s a shame though as having it on for just a few hours was perfect! It’s not needed to be on all night (for me personally as I like to use a sleep talk recorder). Could it be a feature to have a button to choose how long to have the sleep sounds on for maybe? Then people could choose how long they wanted it to play so it works well for them!
Thanks 🙂

No it's only supposed to play for 1 hour and has done that for years. Android 13 has caused the issue because it was working fine in all the 13 Betas.
10-04-2022 09:10 AM
Tbh I thought it played for an hour too (and mine used to as well, which I much preferred), but this is what the lady I spoke to sent to me, where it says it plays for 12 hours: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7364558?hl=en
10-04-2022 09:22 AM
That is a different feature. The Play Sleep Sounds in the Bedtime Routine in Google Home only plays for 1 hour. As usually they do not know what we are talking about.
10-04-2022 09:54 AM
Ah ok that’s really good to know then! Thanks for clearing that up ☺️ fingers crossed they sort out the sleep sounds then
12-22-2022 02:25 AM
Well that is stupid they need to fix that it was fine the way it was.
Don't fix what isn't broken.

Hi there,
I’m having the exact problem. About a week ago or so, my bedtime routine which includes to play sleep sounds and used to play then for one hour, now has them playing all night. I woke up 8 hours later and they are still playing. I’ve tried unplugging my mini as well as resetting it, neither have worked. If this is due to a recent update, I hope Google fixes this issue. If anyone has any other ideas on a fix, please let me know.

Same thing happening to me. Sleep sound meditation playing through the night, while it used to play for only 1 hour.

Hey folks,
Thanks for letting us know. We'd like to check this with our team, could you provide us the cast firmware version of your speakers? What's your router make and model? Also, what's the version of your Google Home app? It will also help our team if you send feedback using the keyword "GHT3 bedtime sleep sound continuously play after an hour".
Regards,
Alex

For a couple of years I have been using the bedtime feature in Google Home. When I say good night to Google, it turns out my lights, tells me the weather for tomorrow and then it plays ambient sounds which I have chosen country night (crickets). For some reason past several days it is no longer stopping after one hour and playing all night long! I have gone through the settings and I can’t find any way of setting it back to just one hour. Any suggestions?

Hi @Brenza
Some others were reporting this over in the Google Assistant Community and we escalated this to the support team. I will also escalate your post here.
In the meantime, try clearing the Google and the Google Home app caches. Change the sound from country night to some other sound (ocean etc) and see if that helps.
Thanks! Jill

Thank you for your reply and thank you for escalating the matter. I’m guessing this is something that’s happening to lots of others as well. I did try changing the sound and then changing it back. I don’t think I can fall asleep to any other sounds being used to this one. I am aware I can set a sleep timer after it starts but it’s just easier to just to say good night and not have to say anything more when you’re dozing off. It’s disappointing when things get changed.
thank you
Brenda

Totally get you! 😴 is a priority!!
I do know that the concerned teams are aware this is happening. Another thing that is helpful is for you to send feedback about this via your Home device. Just tell your Home to share feedback and then record your message. I really encourage anybody that is experiencing this issue to do that.
09-03-2022 04:45 PM
Okay thank you I will do that put a message through the feedback.

Hey folks,
Thanks for sharing details about the issue. I appreciate @JillG for helping here.
The team is aware and looking into this issue at hand. Also, we’ve duplicated your thread to the main one here. You’ll receive all updates on this issue on the main thread and we recommend updating and checking this thread when needed

I tried both of these before I even sent feedback. That will NOT fix the issue.
09-05-2022 05:53 PM
Hi Arazco,
I also sent a feedback with this keyword and the information requested
09-06-2022 04:45 PM
Hey folks,
We appreciate your patience. I already escalated your case to our team. I'll update this thread once we hear any news from them.
Kind regards,

Up until a few nights ago my sleep routine would play sleep sounds for an hour I believe but it spontaneously started to just continue playing them all through the night until I wake up. Is there a fix where I can get it to go back to only playing for an hour?
Thank you

Having the same issue 😞 started a few days ago
08-31-2022 08:28 PM
Hi everyone,
Thanks for reaching out.
Sorry to hear about this. Has anyone tried to delete the routine and re-create it to customize it to play for only an hour? Let's go ahead and try that first to see if this would fix the issue. Also, can you please provide the cast firmware version of your Google Nest speakers.
To check which firmware version you're on, follow these steps:
Keep me posted.

Princess

Thanks for the reply.
My firmware is 1.56.282045
I’ve tried creating a new routine but am unable to edit the duration of the sleep sound - it states that it will end automatically.
I am unable to “delete” the original routine.
09-06-2022 08:23 PM
I ended up making a custom command “play sleep sound thunder for 2 hours”.
09-02-2022 10:22 PM
As another member Froggy commented, sometime in July I noticed that the bedtime routine that ends with audio playing ocean wave sounds no longer has the option to set a timer. Someone responded in the thread that it shuts off after an hour automatically, but that is incorrect. It plays all night. Whatever update you did, please fix this! It’s really annoying.

The sleep sounds in my bedtime routine used to play for about an hour then stop but this last week or so they have started playing all night and disturbing me once I'm asleep, is there a way to revert back to the hour long one it mentions playing for 12 hours unless turned off but doesn't say how to turn it off so it only plays for an hour and i can't find anything in the settings, can anyone help please?
