My nest mini won't communicate with wifi.

I recently changed my router and now my mini won't communicate with the wifi. I did a factory reset on my Google home app and reconnected the mesh router but my nest still won't communicate when I try to set it up

Hey Cgclark,

Thanks for bringing this up.

Sorry to hear about what you are experiencing right now with your Google Nest Mini. A quick question: What's the exact message you're getting when connecting your device to your network?

Check these steps:

  1. Make sure your devices are within 15-20 feet of your router.
  2. Toggle the Wi-Fi off and on from the set up device.
  3. Reboot your router and Nest Mini.
  4.  If you're using an iOS device, make sure Local Network Access is turned on for the Google Home app
  5. Reset your Nest Mini.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Alex

Hey Cgclark,

Thanks for the update.

Just to check, could you please provide us the cast firmware version of the affected device. Also to isolate, is there any way that we can try setting it up using a mobile hotspot? Let's have a separate phone that will serve as a source of internet (mobile hotspot) and the other phone as your set up device. Connect your set up device to the other phone's mobile hotspot and let's attempt to set up the Google speakers on that network and let's see if it will connect.

Best,

Alex

I tried connecting to a mobile hotspot and got the same message "cant' communicate".  I'm not sure how to check the firmware since the device isn't listed in my home app, but I purchased 2 at the same time and the firmware on the one that works is 1.56.299498

Hey Cgclark,

Apologize for the delays. Chiming in to ensure everything is covered here. Just an added question: when and where did you purchase those devices that don't connect to the network?

Cheers,

Muddi
