Nest Audio, Error 83902

I recently changed my wifi and had to set up google nest audio again. It keeps on showing error 83902. I have tried all the random things like changing the language settings of my iPhone to English(UK) and doing the same for google home app. But it still doesn't work. I have done factory reset a couple of times, tried to update the app and have restart my phone as well but the issue still persists. After restarting iPhone I could no longer see my speaker displayed under the devices. Not sure if it is an iPhone issue or google home issue.

Hi Parthbhandari,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that after changing your WiFi network, it hasn’t been possible to connect your Nest Audio, and it keeps on showing error 83902. Thank you for letting us know the troubleshooting steps you have tried to resolve the inconvenience to better understand what you are experiencing. No worries, help is here.

Before I start further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few questions:

  • Is your iPhone updated?
  • How far from the router is your Nest Audio?
  • Are you using a 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz WiFi network to connect your Nest Audio?

In the meantime, I recommend you try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. After checking your iPhone is updated, remove the Google Home app and Get the latest version Google Home app.
  2. Make sure the local network is enabled for the Google Home app:
    1. Go to your iPhone's Settings.
    2. Select Bluetooth and make sure it's enabled.
    3. Go back to the device's settings.
    4. Tap Privacy Local Network.
    5. Tap Google Home on.
  3. Please try to set up your Nest Audio after performing the previous steps.
  4. If the inconvenience persists, please try to set up your Nest Audio with another mobile device.

Thanks for your kind attention; I will be looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

Virna

Hi! I tried installing the app again for the latest version, which didn't work, and I got the same error again. My iPhone isn't up to date with the latest IOS. However, when I used my friend's phone, which has the latest IOS version, it gave a new error rather than the old error 83902.

New error says: failed to connect to all addresses: last error:UNKNOWN ipv:6%5B2a00:1450:4009:822::200a%5D:443:(domain:NSPOSIXErrorDomain, code:50, description: The operation couldn't be completed. Network is down). Right next to my google nest audio I have three other devices, 2 Macs and 1 windows working properly! I have a virgin media which uses both 5GHz and 2.4 GHz. Also Google Home app has all the permissions, so I am not sure what the problem is exactly. Furthermore, why would it not work for an older version of IOS,  surely google can't expect to have the latest version of IOS to use their speaker?

Hi Parthbhandari,

Thank you for your timely response and the comprehensive information you've provided. I’m sorry to hear the inconvenience persists even though you have tried the troubleshooting steps and checked the conditions suggested to connect your Nest Audio to your new WiFi network. It is my pleasure to continue assisting you to find the solution.

Based on the information you shared, I recommend you try the following troubleshooting steps.

  1. Reboot your WiFi router.
    • Unplug the power source for ~one minute and plug it back in.
    • Note for Netgear Nighthawk users: If you're unable to set up using the Netgear Nighthawk router, then you may need to:
      • Disable Access Control
      • Enable the option "Allow guests to see each other and access my local network" in the "Guest Network Setup."
  2. Reboot your Nest Audio.
    • Disconnect the power cable from Nest Audio.
    • Reconnect the power cable back into the Nest Audio.
  3. Turn the mobile setup device’s WiFi off and on. Connect to Wi-Fi on your iPhone.
  4. Set up your Google Nest Audio.

Please let me know how it goes,

Best regards,

Virna
