I am not sure if this is a bug, part of the lawsuit or what.
I have a Nest Audio.
I have Sonos Connect Amp powering two outdoor speakers.
Sonos is linked to my Google Home.
From the Nest Audio, I can tell it to change songs. That is it.
It seems it no longer adjusts the volume. It also will no longer play a different artist. For example, if I am listening to Van Halen, if I say "Ok Google, Play Pantera on Pool Radio", it says it can't do that on this device. If I say "OK Google, Next song", that works.
Trying to change volume as I said, does not work anymore either.
On my phone, if I say "OK Google, play Van Halen on Pool Radio", it will work.
Is there something with the Nest Devices that is now broke or a bug?
I removed the sonos, readded it, reauthorized YouTube Music. nothing.
I tried a second Nest Audio, same thing. It will not do "Ok Google, Play "artist" on Pool Radio".
Seems it is just related to the Nest Audio.

I hooked up a factory reset Mini, same result.
I then factory reset the Sonos, removed the app, readded everything, linked everything....no change.
It will not control sonos from any of the smart speakers, but it will work from my phone (Note 20 Ultra)

Hey lardo5150,
Thanks for sharing details about the issue here. My apologies for the late response. You did notice a change, but you can still control the volume and equalizer settings for each speaker in a group individually using the Google Home app, a display device, or Assistant voice command.
Please note that speaker groups containing non-Google speakers or Cast-based devices may not work properly in speaker groups if they don’t receive a software update. Third-party Cast devices will need to be updated to Cast firmware 1.52.272222 and above.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Muddi

My question was about controlling Sonos with Google Assistant through a Google Speaker, not groups.

Hey lardo5150,
To confirm, is your Sonos speaker connected via Bluetooth to your Google Nest Audio?

No.
I have a sonos connect amp, generation 2.
I have linked Sonos to my Google Home.
For the past three years, I can tell the google assistant through a google speaker, to turn up/down volume, change songs, play a different artist, etc.
In the past month, that has stopped. I can now only skip to the next song.

Hey lardo5150,
To confirm, is your Sonos amplifier setup from on a Sonos app, then linked to the Google Home app? If yes, are you having issues controlling the amplifier from the native app? How about when you use the Google Assistant app on your phone?
Cheers,
Muddi

Hey lardo5150,
Got it! Looks like an update from Sonos itself. I suggest you reach out to them to check if there's an issue with their portal or changes on how they allow the Google speakers to control their devices via voice command.
Cheers,
Muddi

the sonos was setup through the sonos app.
I linked sonos to google home.
I can control sonos through the sonos app.
I have lost the ability to use google assistant on a google speaker, to control the sonos, except for "next song".
