Nest Audio speaker is dead

Dan777

Hello,

One our nest speakers no longer works. I went through all the troubleshooting steps without success. It does not power on. The power cord works when swapping with the other functional speaker. Given that the speaker died 18 months after purchase, can Google please replace the speaker? Or can Google please offer a replacement at a reasonable cost? The nest Audio speakers were previously on sale for $79 for a pair. Can Google honner that price? Thanks.

Hey Dan777,

Thanks for reaching out — let's check what else we can do.

Is your Google Nest Audio plugged directly into a wall outlet or surge protector? Are you still using the original power cable and adapter? Also, what country are you located in? Give these steps a try:

  1. Plug your speaker into a different wall outlet.
Note: Make sure they are not connected to a surge protector to rule out all other hardware.
  2. Discharge your Nest Audio:
    1. Unplug the power adapter from the outlet and the speaker or display.
    2. Leave it unplugged for 20 seconds.
    3. Plug the power adapter into the speaker or display.
    4. Plug the other end of the power adapter into a wall outlet that works.
    5. Check if any LED lights would appear on the back of the speaker or display.

Looking forward to your response.

Best,

Alex

Hello,
I have followed all those steps per a previous ticket I submitted.  I also swapped the power cord for a functional power cord without any success.  No surge protector.  I live in the USA.

Thanks.

Hi Muddi,

Is there any way Google can offer a discount on a replacement speaker?  I do not appreciate the fact the speaker died just past the warranty period.  If not, I will have to rethink the ecosystem for the house given the lack of support (maybe Sonos, etc)  Thanks again.

Hey Dan777,

Sorry but we don't offer any discount for replacement, but you can always check Google Store if they have an ongoing promotion or discount for the Google Home and Nest speakers and display.

Cheers,
Muddi

Thanks Muddi for suggesting I replace our audio system with Sonos.  I appreciate the help making this decision.
