Nest Home and Mini speakers glitching

Xaviorin
Community Member

For the last 3 days all of my Google nest minis and my Google nest hub devices have been responding with "hmmm that didn't work pleas try again in a few minutes" and "There was a glitch..." Anytime I ask the speakers to broadcast.

This was an issue about a month ago regionwide, then it started working again, now it's broken once more with a new error response.

Resetting devices has not fixed the either nor has taking them to another location on a different Internet connection. The issue has got to be with the broadcast service. What can I do?

I'm having this issue as well, were you able to fix the situation ?

This has not been resolved. All speakers have the issues. It's a Google services issue not a device or connection problem. I don't know how to get this to someone to look into

Hi folks,

@Xaviorin, @Wyry1, this is not the experience we want you to have; let us help you. A few questions: were there any recent changes made? What troubleshooting steps have you done so far? Is it only happening when broadcasting?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first:

  1. Unplug the power cord from your router, followed by your Nest speakers.
  2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
  3. Restarting your phone might also help.
  4. Make sure all devices are on the same Wi-Fi network.

Also, to eliminate network issues, please try setting up two of your devices using a mobile hotspot. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one to serve as a router and the other to be used to set up your Google Home or Nest devices). Once done, check if your device will have the same behavior.

If the issue persists, you can revert your device to its original settings by doing a factory reset. Depending on the device that you have, click this link: Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays.

Keep us posted.

Best,

Dan

Dan,

I did all of this approximately a week ago and there were no immediate changes. Several days after giving up I randomly noticed when I asked google something the issue went away. I believe it was 8/19/23 that the issue suddenly stopped happening after being an issue for weeks.

Is there somewhere we can report or go to notify google of issues that would heed faster responses? I don't know if it matters but I'm a google one member. I just keep getting stuck between wondering if I should try some other smart speakers because I understand issues happen, but issues seem to be happening all the time lately when they werent a problem for a year... and finding help seems to take just as long.

Like why have or keep hardware when it doesnt work half the time? If it were something I didnt incorporate into my entire house it would have been returned a long long time ago
