We recently switched from traditional Wi-Fi to using our phones as hotspots (we have GoogleFi). My question involves my Nest Mini and also my first-gen Chromecast. I know I need two devices to set up my Nest. Will I always need two devices to use my Nest on a hotspot? My phone can't connect to its own hotspot, and my husband takes his phone to work. So will I be unable to use my nest if it's connected to the hotspot on my phone since those two devices won't be on the same wifi network? I'm also curious if a router exists that I could tether my hotspot to, if anyone has any advice about that.

Hi @NatJV!
Thanks for posting in the community.
I understand that you just started using your mobile device as a hotspot because you just switched to Google Fi. I know that you want to know if you will be able to connect your Google Home devices to this hotspot and control it. There are some mobile devices that allow you to have the hotspot running and also connect to their own hotspot using the WiFi options. If that is the case for you, then you will be able to control your Nest Mini using the same device, otherwise you will need a different mobile device also connected to the hotspot to control the speaker. Google streaming devices like your first generation Chromecast can sometimes connect with hotspots, but this is not what we will recommend.
However, there are some routers on the market that can work as hotspots because they can work using internet provided by a SIM card.
Feel free to keep posting if you have any further questions.
Best regards,
Daniel.
