Nest Hub (2nd gen) Can't Trigger Music

When I ask my Hub to play music, whether it's Apple Music or Spotify, it opens the app and shows the song for about 3 seconds (song is not playing), then goes back to the home screen. The Hub will play music within a speaker group if it's triggered by another device though, such as the Nest Mini in the same room.

Hi @bradleybalsters, have you checked to make sure the Hub still assigned to a room? Have you logged out of both accounts and logged in again? Seems to me it's finding what it's looking for but the connection fails.

As for it working when activated elsewhere, my hunch, for lack of a better explanation, it's behaving as a satellite speaker as part of the grouping and the main connection to the service is coming from the speaker that initiated the playlist. I don't use either of those services, so not sure of the anomalies associated with either.

Do you mean log out of the Google Home app on my phone? Or from the music services on the Google Home app?

Try logging out of the music services. Also, try rebooting your modem and router and for grins, you might want to reboot the Hub.

Hey bradleybalsters,

Thanks for reaching out, and appreciate @GothamNY for helping here.

Chiming in to ensure everything is covered. To confirm, have you tried GothamNY's suggested steps? Does it happen on other music services like YouTube Music and Pandora? Are you able to cast music from your phone to that speaker?

Looking forward to your response.

Cheers,

Muddi
