Nest Hub Max Abandonware?

Is it time to include the Nest Hub Max in the last of hardware Google no longer supports? They are pretty much useless now.

  • They fail to understand commands more often than not
  • The cameras are pretty much tilted to the ceiling or upper wall, so the best place for the device is on a kid's stool.
  • Continues to for you to the Nest app which sucks
  • Cannot access video feed in the new Google Home app
@Google please let customers know if we need to recycle these and get Ubiquiti cameras instead.

I guess the existence of this community answers my question. This isn't Google's standard community found at https://support.google.com/, but an island that I had to sign up for just to post.

Hello adhaas85,

My apologies for the late response. I know how challenging it is when you're having issues with your Google Nest Hub Max. I'd love to dig deeper into this. A few questions: when did the issue start? How far is your Nest Hub Max from your router? Is your account migrated to a Gmail account? Also, what are the steps that you've tried so far?

Looking forward to your response.

Cheers,

Muddi

This started when Google began the process of merging the Nest ecosystem with the Google Home ecosystem. The cameras have never worked properly or consistently since. I registered for the Google Home Beta as soon as I could as there was a promise that (eventually) the Nest cameras in the Nest Home Hub Max would be integrated properly like they were originally.

I have a mesh network with three Nest Home Hub Max's within 10 feet of any one of three access points.

My account started with Gmail and has been consistent since its advent.

  • Each Nest Home Hub Max has been reset multiple times.
  • The Google Home app was uninstalled multiple times.
  • My phone formatted multiple times
  • I've tried each beta version of Android 14
  • I've switched mobile carriers
  • I've switched ISPs
  • I've switched my network mesh hardware and ecosystems

The only thing that is consistent, is the inability to view the Nest Home Hub Max cameras from within the Google Home app.

To add irritation, they show up under "Cameras", but most of the time they cannot be reached or I'm asked to turn the cameras on - which are on all the time.

Additionally, I have the Nest Outdoor Cameras that work flawlessly. Even when they are easily 10 times farther away from a mesh access point than any of the Nest Home Hub Max.

I responded to the email 6 days ago. Still nothing. Then this article just came out which sure seems like my assessment of "Abandonware" is correct:
