Nest Hub Max gestures and face recognition stopped working after factory reset

I just did a factory reset on my Nest Hub Max, and deleted/re-added it to my Google Home app, to resolve an issue whereby the camera was not working.

While the camera seems to be working now, the device is no longer recognising my face when I look at it (i.e. it doesn't display the flashing dots in the top left hand corner, or respond in any other way). It also no longer responds when I hold up my hand in front of the display to stop media playback. This was working fine before I did the factory reset.

How can I restore face recognition and hand gestures?

Thanks for posting—let's get this sorted out. Since you factory reset your Google Nest Hub Max, setting up Face Match and Quick Gestures is needed. Let me know how it goes.

Both of these were already set up, which is why I couldn't understand what was going on. I eventually power cycled the hub and this seems to have resolved it. For now, at least
