Nest Hub Max shows incorrect time

Kiwicaro
Community Member

I live on the border of QLD and NSW in Australia. My address us QLD, and my home address, which is associated with the device, has the correct address of QLD.

Currently, Daylight Savings (DST) applies for NSW whereas QLD is not, so QLD is an hour behind (we don't have DST at all).

The device has changed to DST even though its not in NSW.

I have tried updating from the Home app and the address which the device is associated with, but the address is correct.

I was going to buy more Google Devices  but if this isn't fixed I'll be switching to another brand. Ideally, I should be able to manually choose the timezone but I am not able to.

Suggested fixes would be great.

Hi Kiwicaro,

Thanks for reaching out. Let’s try to refresh your devices and observe if it makes a difference. First, reboot your Wi-Fi router, and once the network is back up, do the same thing to your Google Nest Hub Max.

Regards,

Juni

Why does Google Nest simply refuse to correct incorrect timezones in its database?

There are many ongoing posts in this forum where customers have reported that Google Nest has associated the wrong timezone with their address. Not once has Google Nest even acknowledged the problem (except for a massive error in Mexico), much less offered to fix it.

If Google Nest insists on using a Google database for timezones, then you owe it to your customers to correct errors in that database.

Hi Juni,

I have tried that but to no avail. It simply reverts to AEDT when it should be reflecting AEST. I think the issue is bigger than just turning something off and back on.

If I can't get this fixed, I'll have to consider changing from Google. It's a surprise that it's not able to be fixed.

Hey folks,

MplsCustomer, thanks for the feedback. This is appreciated.

Kiwicaro, we hear you—we can understand why you feel that way, and we appreciate the troubleshooting that you did. Try the factory reset; this erases all your personalized settings and restores the factory default settings. It won’t automatically reconnect to WI-Fi, and you’ll need to set it up again. Check out the article below to know more about it.

Factory reset Google Nest or Home speakers or displays

Gee whiz. This is a problem Google Nest needs to fix. Google Nest's database has the wrong timezone for this customer's address. Google Nest needs to correct its database.
