Nest Hub Max will not display all photos

nicknyc

I made an album with over 950 photos to display on the Nest Hub Max. However, I only keep seeing approx 40 pics from that album. How can I make it show all pics from this album.  FYI I created the album in Google Photos using an iPhone.  Any suggestions please!!!!

Following....also, are you not able to upload directly to the device? Curious for myself before I buy as a gift. Thanks in advance.

I have no problem uploading to the device. They are all there.  It's just that the device only seems to display certain photos.  Nobody seems to know why!

Thank you for your reply. I wish I could be of help, sorry. Best of luck...still following, but I did notice that when the device gets a bad star rating they are quick to reply. GL!

Hello nicknyc,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand the importance of being able to view all of your photos and memories. I would be more than happy to help look into this situation. First, I have some quick questions.

  • What kind of album is this? Is this a live album?
  • Is this a new issue? Was your device showing all of the photos before?
  • Does this happen with all of your albums?
  • Do you have a smaller album you could test out? (Ex: 100 photos) Does the same issue occur?
  • Are you receiving any error messages?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

Thank you for your patience, I look forward to your reply back!

Hi Frances, I am having this issue as well. However, I chose a regular album. It's not a live album. I only have 11 photos in it, but it will not show 3 of the photos. I tried creating a new album with only 8 photos in it, and it still won't show 3 specific photos. I've never had this problem before. I always have a small album of a dozen photos or less. I switch them out and update them every month or two. This is the first time it won't display certain photos. I don't understand why.

I have been working on this problem for several days.  I have the same problem. Not only does it not show all my photos but It does not show the photos that I do get in the order I put them in Google Photos.  I can't believe that Google would not recognize this problem and provide a work around or update the Nest Hub Max.

Hello,

I have the same problem with my Nest Hub 2nd Gen !

Any solution so far from Google ?

If they are not going to provide at least an answer within my time frame I wil return the product.

Any solutions as of yet, having the same frustrating problem with the hub not showing all of my photos?

I also have the same problem with my google nest hub max -- connected to my photos in google photos (and albums there).  I designated a new photo album for it to display from, but won't change from the photos that it was originally showing.  Also, it is not a full album that's being displayed, it is only a partial number of photos in an album -- and now a partial number of photos in two folders, even though only one is checked (designated).  How do I straighten this out...

Still nothing from Google and clearly we are not the only people with this frustrating issue.

Come on Google.... please provide some help here!

I believe the solution is to just wait a few days. Eventually it self corrects. At least it did for me.

This has been going on since March when I got the Hub Max. We also have four Nest Hub 2nd Gens too and the issue is the same even with using different photo albums.

Hey folks,
It looks like we have come to a solution so I'm going to be locking this thread. If you have any other concerns or questions, please feel free to create a new thread.

Have a great day.

  • This is totally incorrect!  I’ve been waiting nearly three weeks!  Google needs to bring a fix!

I sure hope it gets resolved sooner than later!

Same problem here; i uploaded 250 photos to googlephotos, but only a few pics were showing. Then i read that I should mark them all as favorite; that surely helped, but still: some pics I see lot more often than others. Some pictures even never showed. Never! Even after i faved them.

JanineD

Thanks for the tip I will try doing that but still disappointing that they all don’t show up!

Ok, i had it running for some time, and I can confirm that ALL photo’s showed up now.
So: this is the cure: fav all your pictures and select the ‘favourites’ folder to play on the screen.
though: the view order is still random. That is probably why some photos are played more often than others.

I’ve got the same issue here. 115 photos in the album but quite a few just never get displayed at all.

So disappointed that this is not fixed yet considering how long it has been going on!!

Thank you I will try that!

I was having the same issue.  I changed "Personal photo curation" to "Live albums only" and all photos show on the nest hub now.  I hope this helps.

I’m not able to find that setting that you’re speaking about to turn it to live albums only. Could you let me know where I locate this? Thanks kindly

Go into Google Home on your phone, click on your nest hub, click on edit photo frame, then you'll see personal photo curation towards the bottom.

thanks for this suggestion, it appears to have worked.

Thank you Cmf82, you deserve a big 👍!   I thought I had tried everything, but you zeroed in on a solution that I could not find, and one that does not appear in any Google info sheets.  I'm truly glad for the community boards, but believe that Google should have also come to the aid of several of us in bringing a solution or options to the group.  Anyway, thanks Cmf82, it's working on mine too now!

Here's an associated question, once we've clicked on "Live albums only" is there any way to choose which photos are shown, or is it fully random.  As it was said by someone else on this board, it appears that more photos are coming out of my Google Photos -- for me though it appears a bit random out of many of my albums...

Good question, I'll have to test it out.  I only have 1 folder selected, but all photos in that folder seem to be displayed randomly.

Thank you for your suggestion. It looks like all my 13 photos are showing since I switched to live only.  Now we have to find out how we can get the photos to show in the order we want rather than random. You would think that Googel would have provided more support regarding these problems with the NestHubMax.

Thank you for the suggested fix.   Took me a few minutes to realize the change you suggest is made on the hub its self and not through Home app.    Say"ok google change photo frame" and search for the "Live albums only".    Again, thank you for you help.

This seems to be a partial solution.  I switched to "live albums only"  and one more of the pictures showed up, but one is still missing.  I only used four pictures to test, because "test" means it might not work.  I've spent way too much time trying on this already.  Changed aspect ratio, picture size, portrait / landscape switch, but still it's a problem.  We're all just Google beta testers now.

My Nest Hub stopped displaying and my pictures and will only play art slides. I have changed settings, rebooted several times etc. Even though I have photos selected it will not play the slide show.

I, too was struggling with not all of my photos in my folder showing up. We finally figured out that since I had selected landscape mode for display, that knocked out a good percentage of my photos. By switching to portrait mode, all of them display now.

hey all of you, to display all album picture you need to disable photo curation in the settings and put all you picture as favorite.

At least this worked for me.

ahdbk gave the solution!!!
To simplify the stage

Google Home application > Device Setting > Photo Frame > Personal Photo curation > Change "All Albums" to "Live Albums only"

Thank you for the input. It looks like my photos are showing up.. Now I am trying find out how I can show them in the order I want and not randomly like I get now.

In my case, I created another album and put the photos in an order as I wanted and use only that album in my google nest hub
